World CardMaking Day at Unity

Challenge #1 Shaped Card

IMG_2563

I used the Unity KOM from October 2011, “Faith, Hope & Love”.  The jar-shaped card is a jar shape cut from the Silhouette store, made into a card.  I also used the Silhouette foil to make the rim to the jar.

Challenge #2 It’s All About Texture

IMG_2568

For this card, I used Unity’s Brave Boots and the sentiment is from Unity’s KOM September 2011 “All Seasons”.  For the texture I made a veil out of some fabric.  I made this card for my daughter, who’s getting married in three weeks.  She is wearing her cowboy boots under her dress and I wanted to make her a card for her shower using this stamp set!

Challenge #3 Embossing

IMG_2561

This card was created using Unity’s November 2011 KOM “Take Your Time” for the snowflakes that are embossed with puffy embossing powder.  The sentiment is from the “All Seasons” KOM.  The background paper is embossed with a cuttlebug embossing folder.

Challenge #4 Sketch

IMG_2558

I used Unity’s September 2012 KOM “the Vintage Touch” for the key and the sentiment.  The paper is MME Lost & Found.

Challenge #5  Fall

IMG_2564

This card was made using Unity’s September 2011 KOM “All Seasons”.  I tried to use a masking technique with shimmer mist.  You cannot really see the shimmery texture that the mist makes in the picture, sorry!

Challenge #6 Stamp a Border

This challenge required making a border out of a non-border type stamp.

IMG_2566

I used Unity’s “Giggle Grove” stamp set on this card.  The “giggle” was the border I created.  I bought this stamp set with my crafty friend, Stephanie, in mind.  She adds “giggle” to her text sometimes and I just immediately thought of her when I saw this stamp set!

Challenge #7 Coloring

IMG_2562

I used Unity’s November 2011 KOM “Take Your Time” for the cup of cocoa.  I am not very advanced in my coloring, so I picked a pretty easy stamp to color.  The sentiment is a Sizzix embossing folder.  I also used some glitter gel pens to add some sparkle, although the picture doesn’t really do it justice!

Challenge #8  Color Combo (Cream, Brown, Olive and Pumpkin)

IMG_2567

For the last challenge, I needed more inspiration, so I used the sketch in the current Paper Crafts Magazine.  I used Unity/JillyBean Soup “Apple Cheddar Soup” set and also the matching paper from JillyBean Soup.

Friends with Flair

This is a "get well/thinking of you" card that I made for a friend.  I thought I would post it for the Friends with Flair challenge at the Unity website.  I have really been busy with scrapbook layouts lately, so busy that I am getting behind in posting!  I will take some pictures of the layouts and post them soon!

Here's a close up of the beautiful Unity stamp...
Thanks for looking and have a blessed day!

St. Patrick's Day Wreath

Pinterest has filled my mind with many ideas for crafts, especially wreaths!  Today's post is another wreath that was very easy to create.  First I cut shamrocks out with my Silhouette, decorated them and then tied a piece of tulle to the top!  Easy peasy!

God bless!

“Lovely” Layout

037

Here’s another Senior picture layout of my daughter.  This is the picture she chose to go in the yearbook, she looks amazing!  I used MME Lost and Found paper and some random stickers from a grab bag I got at a crop.  I’m not even sure what brand they are, but they were perfect for this layout.

When I was trying to make the paper flower match the paper, I had an wonderful discovery that I wanted to share!  First, here’s a close up…

038

I used Distress Ink in Tea Stain then covered the flower with clear embossing powder and hit it with the heat gun.  The result looks like leather!  I looks so neat!

Enjoy and God Bless!

“A Boy and His Thumb” Layout

039

I recently started trying to catch up my son’s scrapbook, it has just seemed hard for me to find paper, embellishments and a style that was boyish.  I love My Mind’s Eye Alphabet Soup line and also the Lime Twist line for his layouts.  I still struggle with embellishments, it’s hard to stay away from frilly stuff!  Anyway, for this layout I used both of the MME lines listed above and some Unity/Echo Park stamps.  I love this layout because it captures my son at several stages (even as a newborn) with his favorite blanket and his thumb.  I found a poem that I used as journaling, I changed to words around some.

Anyway, Enjoy and God Bless!

“Love You” Layout

Today I have a layout using a few of my favorite products and scrapbooking a few of my favorite people!

For this layout I used MME “So Sophie” collection and various Unity itty bitty stamps.  These pictures were taken in the Great Smokey Mountains.  My husband is an awesome, amateur photographer!

God Bless!

Unity’s Friends with Flare

Good morning all!  I have a cute but simple card to enter in FWF challenge today.  I used SCAL to design the actual card layout and various Unity stamps.  The gnome is from Unity’s Apple Cheddar Soup set.

Christmas Card Page

Every year I always create a pocket page to save our Christmas cards in.  This year I used MME Lost & Found Christmas paper.  It’s actually very simple and fast to create, and it works wonderfully!

Wild Thing Layout

Today’s post is a layout of my daughter at the zoo this summer.  I used the Imagine to print the design paper.  I hardly ever use my Imagine machine, I have become so fascinated with stamping that I have been stamping so many things! The pattern is on the JT cartridge.  “Wild Thing” and the rest of the animals are from the Animal Kingdom cartridge.  If you look closely, the ticket opens up off the page to reveal the journaling.

A New Year’s Resolution…

So, today I was reading I Heart Faces’ and there is an amazing article about taking at least one random picture a day for a year.  I have set this as my challenge for myself.  I absolutely love scrapbooking my family’s life and I have always been a fan of candid shots.  This love of candid shots probably goes back to my childhood.  Every year at Christmas my family, along with my Dad’s side of the family, would pose for a group picture.  Then, we always, let loose and got silly and took a goofy picture.  Those pictures are the pictures I have always treasured!  Those candid, silly pictures are glimpses into the personalities of each of us!  So, wish me luck as I begin capturing my family (and hopefully myself) in life, not posed or propped!

I have a couple of scrapbook layouts to share today.  I have been working on scrapbooking the outtakes from my daughter’s senior pictures.  I hope you are inspired by these layouts that capture some random silliness!

Christmas 2011 106

Design paper is MME Stella and Rose.  The pictures and the tag are matted on paper from DCWV’s current Fall stack.

Christmas 2011 107

This awesomely cute stamp is from Unity.

Christmas 2011 110

Design paper is MME Lost & Found Two.  The “Just You” and the letters for Stephanie’s name are Unity stamps.

So, do you notice anything remarkably similar in the layouts (besides my daughter, lol)?  The pose my dad is doing in the top one and the pose my daughter is doing in the second one?  How funny is that?!  I only noticed that they are doing the same gesture when I was taking the pictures of the layouts for the blog post!  I guess this is another thing that has inspired me to capture us in our candid moments too!  What other things have I missed that my children do like my parents?  Never again!  So look out family and friends (you will not be spared either because you are important parts of who we are)!!!!

God Bless!
